The Glove Box (or finding inspiration everywhere)

On the road

I am

golden.

In me

the road ahead is

golden.

My daughter eats graham crackers in the passenger seat

as we pass out of Rhode Island with dirty feet

and campfire skin.

At a rest stop near Springfield, Mass

my son finds a pocket notebook in the glove box

& I feel compelled to explain what inspiration means –

My daughter eats graham crackers in the passenger seat

and stanzas erupt from her smile.
