Primates peering into the everlasting void

into nothingness

at the dawn of consciousness:

“A stream flowing without destination

to dry up and disappear in the desert

where it becomes myth” — The Atheist

“A lake

Unreal

but all there is

with no escape

short of letting go

and drowning

but not drowning

but recognizing the water molecules

as “me”

in the hope

of getting out” — The Buddhist

“Thousands of tributaries

through mountain passes

and valley floors

but only one leading to

paradise

mine” — The Evangelical

“An ornate castle

with a man-made swamp

the owners

trying to get the bloodstains

out of the curtains
