my friend’s father had
a stroke last night as I bitched
about the weather
you can still embrace
your mother’s living body:
some never knew her
my teeth are shitty
but have not experienced
the horrors of war
I can write haikus
in the early morning light:
her children might eat
party did not go
as planned but you are not yet
at the age of aches
